Dr. Andrew Geer

As the grandson of a Dentist and the son of physicians, Dr Geer grew up planning to spend his life in service to others.  His ambitions led him to UNC-Chapel Hill, where he spent 8 years completing both his Bachelor's Degree and his Doctorate.  Ranked in the top 5 Dental Schools in the nation, UNC provides a wonderful education.  

Dr Geer has always been convinced that he is called to use the skills which the Lord has blessed him with to give to those underserved.  This sense of call has lead him to serve both locally and internally in countries like China, Haitti, and Kenya.  From Give Kids a Smile to The Community Care Clinic, his active involvement in local charitable organizations is indicative of his commitment to the unfortunate among us.

As the father of 4 young children, Dr Geer is actively involved in their home schooling.  He is also a self-proclaimed addict of kiteboarding, an extreme sport that he enjoys (as frequently as possible) in the Outer Banks of NC.  When the wind is not blowing he can be found routing on UNC in basketball. 

Dr. Joel Switzer

Our office is pleased to welcome Dr. Joel Switzer

Dr. Switzer grew up in Arizona and graduated with honors from the University of Arizona.  He then moved east where he attended dental school with Dr. Geer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After graduating with honors from dental school, Dr. Switzer started a successful dental office from scratch in Arizona.  After selling his practice, Dr. Switzer worked as the director of a non-profit clinic in San Diego where he provided dentistry for the underserved.  Most recently, he has moved back to North Carolina with his wife Jen and five children. Dr. Switzer shares Dr. Geer's gentle, caring style.  We think you will agree that he is a great addition to our office.

Office Manager
Deanna Ivester

Deanna has been managing successful dental practices since 1998.  Since Dr Geer first opened his practice, Deanna has been the face to greet each patient at the front desk.  She does whatever it takes in order to serve patients, and can sometimes be found assisting the dentists or working a last-minute patient into the schedule.  When Deanna is not attending to patients and ensuring an efficiently-run office, she and her husband are busy parenting all five of their daughters, whose ages range from 25 to 3.  She and her family enjoy camping and movies.  Deanna also loves to cook.

Dental Assistant
L'Oreal Smith DAII

L'Oreal has been working as a dental assistant since 2006 when she graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College.  L'Oreal grew up in the Bronx, NY until she moved to North Carolina.  L'Oreal  and her husband are the proud parents of two children and they are often times found on the football field rooting on the Winston Salem Grayhounds.  When she has free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family. 

Dental Hygienist
Cristi Samuels RDH

Cristi has been working as a dental hygienist for the past eleven years.  She she graduated from Fayetteville Tech Community College in 1999.  Cristi and her husband, Kyle have a blended family of four children.  Crisit enjoys reading, watching movies and football, and biking with her family.

Dental Hygienist

 Amanda Minton RDH   Amanda has ten years of experience caring for patients.  She graduated from the dental assisting program at Guilford Technical Community College in 2000 and worked as a dental assistant for five years.  In 2005, she decieded to go back to GTCC to persue her dental hygiene license.  Amanda and her husband of ten years have one son.  They are active in their church and love to go camping and cycling with family and friends

Prevention and Oral Health Maintenance
At our office, we believe preventative dental care and maintenance is vital to your dental health. Through regular scheduled exams we check the overall health of your teeth and gums, perform oral cancer screenings, and perform x-rays to detect problems before they worsen. Routine dental cleanings, sealants, and fluoride treatments help prevent cavities and dental disease. We review your medical history to assess your overall health and identify any illnesses that may have an impact on your dental health.

Office Sterilization and Safety Procedures
We want to ensure the health of our patients and our dental team. Our practice follows safety procedures recommended by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:

• Using disinfectant hand soap
• Wearing gloves, masks, glasses and/or face shields
• Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
• Sterilization of all non-disposable instruments and equipment before every use
• Chemical disinfection of all items which cannot be sterilized
• Use of disposable plastic coverings and sheath over surfaces with high contact such as the dental chair, equipment, air/water syringe and light handles.

Our dental team is comprised of highly trained and skilled professionals who are licensed and certified. We are also active members in various dental associations - this helps our office keep up with changes and advances in the dental profession.
